Are you looking for the best Ethereum Classic (ETC) wallets?

Well, you are in the right place !!

At TheMoneyMongers we work hard to vet cryptocurrency wallets, and this time it is the turn for Ethereum Classic. I think, just like me you too are a fan and a HODLer ETC.

If you don’t know, ETC is the old Ethereum blockchain, and the current ETH blockchain is a fork of the old one. In 2015 they forked away from each other due to the DAO hack.

Since then many ETC holders have believed that this is the actual Ethereum project to follow and that’s why it has the fan following it has today.

But smart ETC holders don’t keep their ETC in an exchange. Instead, they keep ETC on hard to hack hardware and software Ethereum Classic wallets.

Here are some of those top ETC wallets that you can also use:

#1. Ledger Nano X [Hardware Wallets]

Ledger Nano X – a hardware wallet launched this year by Ledger SAS- France based start-up has become the go-to crypto hardware wallet for many, including me.

If you are serious about the security of your crypto assets you shouldn’t think twice in getting a crypto hardware wallet, especially when they are selling for so cheap.

Ledger Nano X is capable of supporting 1000+ cryptocurrencies including Ethereum Classic and allows you to use 100 cryptocurrencies at a time on through the Ledger Live app.

The device is Bluetooth enabled, making it super easy for you to connect your iOS and Android devices wirelessly. The battery of the device can last upto 5 hours and has an expected life of 5 years.

PS: Always buy Ledger Nano X from this official website, purchases made through other sources such as Amazon have been reported faulty resulting in compromising of users’ funds.

Lastly, it is an HD wallet, which is non-custodial. You should always go for non-custodial wallets weather they are hardware or software.

#2. Trezor Model T[Hardware Wallets]

Trezor Model T is another hardware wallet for Ethereum Classic.

Trezor Model T is a bit bigger than Ledger Nano X, but it looks cool to hold it in your hands. I have been using it for some weeks, and I find it useful to diversify in terms of wallets also to store my cryptocurrencies.

Model T is also capable of storing 1000+ cryptocurrencies including ETC. It is manufactured by SatoshisLab – a company that is pioneering the era of cryptocurrency hardware wallets since 2014.

Moreover, Model T comes with a feature to back-up your seed, and you can even set a passphrase for additional security of your device. It is a touch screen device that I think was not required for a hardware device, but one feature that I would have liked it to have is, Bluetooth.

PS: Always buy Trezor Model T from this official website, purchases made through other sources such as Amazon have been reported faulty resulting in compromising of users’ funds.

Having Bluetooth enables a hardware device to become truly mobile in terms of its integration with iOS and Android devices. But anyway, it does the job of securing your cryptocurrencies well, so any day it is better than other software wallets you are using.

#3. Exodus

Want an Ethereum Classic wallet for your Windows or Mac desktop?

Well, Exodus is for you.

Exodus is a well know cryptocurrency desktop wallet of the industry since 2016. It is so easy to use, and the UI is so clean that even your grandparents can use it. Of course, with a bit of help from you !!

It is a non-custodial HD wallet the kind off we recommend, and it also provides you the option to back-up your seed while you set-it up for the first time,

Exodus was one of the first few wallets to support Ethereum Classic and Ethereum both when they forked off from each other. However, it is not a full node client, so you need not download the whole Ethereum Classic blockchain.

Exodus is available for Mac, Windows, Linux and also iOS/Android devices too.

#4. Trust Wallet

Trust Wallet is a multi-currency mobile wallet that started getting traction in 2018.

As a result, it got acquired by Binance and since then has been building even more aggressively. If you have a small amount of ETC or any amount that you want to use on-the-go, you should check out the Trust wallet.

The UI of Trust wallet is clean, and it has a DApps section too which allows you to access Ethereum Classic DApps. Furthermore, you can easily store and manage your ETC coins on this HD wallet which provides you access to your keys.

Afterall there is no point using a custodial wallet.

It has an inbuilt exchange that provides you liquidity whenever you want to sell your ETC coins. This is a handy feature to have. Lastly, Trust Wallet is available for iOS and Android devices, so what are you waiting for?

#5. Jaxx Wallet

When I got into the Ethereum ecosystem, the first wallet that I used was MyEtherWallet, and the second was Jaxx.

Jaxx initially though only supported ETH has now expanded its reach to ETC and related tokens. I particularly like their Chrome version but if it is even available for Android, iOS, Mac OS X, Windows, & Linux.

It was also one of the pioneer mobile wallets to be launched in the early days of Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. That’s why it is having a trustable developer team and a userbase that loves it.

Again it is an HD wallet, which is a non-custodial wallet that believes in individuals holding their own money.

The advantage of using Jaxx is . that it easily integrates with Ledger and Trezor hardware devices to give you seamless experience and peace of mind for using a hardware wallet.

#6. Ledger Nano S [Hardware Wallets]

Ledger Nano S is another hardware wallet for Ethereum Classic which I missed covering-up in the article. It was my first hardware wallet and has a special place in my arsenal of crypto security devices.

Ledger SAS, company is behind this product too and helps you store 1000+ cryptocurrencies including Ethereum Classic cryptocurrency.

Your private keys of ETC are always safe on the hardware architecture of Ledger Nano S and the device can be even used with malware-infected devices.

The device has two side buttons to navigate its UI and you can connect it to your laptop or mobile using a USB wire. It doesn’t have a Bluetooth feature which I think is not that necessary too if you want to store on a few currencies.

When you set-up the Ledger Nano S device you are given a 24-word see which you need to safeguard at all cost to keep your cryptocurrencies safe !!

If you are looking for a long term solution to store your ETC coins, you shouldn’t look ahead then Ledger Nano S because it will completely serve your purpose.

#7. Magnum Wallet

Still not satisfied with the list of ETC wallets?

Well, let me. introduce you to Magnum Wallet. It is a web wallet, meaning you will able to access it through your browser only. But it is certainly a good wallet if you are starting in crypto and have fewer funds at your disposal.

However, at TheMoneyMongers, we totally recommend you avoid hot wallets like Magnum but if you have less amount of ETC for experimental purposes, you can surely use Magnum.

When you register on Magnum wallet you get a one-time password, you need to secure this at all cost because losing this would mean losing your wallet.

Also, we urge you to take a back-up of your keys as soon as you log in to your wallet because in case you lose your password these back-up keys will help you recover the wallet.

Lastly, if you like the Magnum’s UI and want to store ETC and other 30+ currencies that Magnum support in a more secure environment, you can integrate Ledger devices with Magnum.

How To Create A Ethereum Classic Wallet?

Now, I believe you have understood how to get an Ethereum Classic wallet and which one is the best for you. My last, two-cent advice would be to refrain from storing any crypto holdings on exchanges.

No exchange is good enough to help you store your cryptocurrencies safely. You need unique wallets to do so. If you don’t know, ask around. Ask us!!

But don’t keep them on exchanges or random wallets where you run the risk of losing all your cryptocurrencies. So that’s all from us in the article, and if you have any questions, we will be more than happy to field them in the comments below 🙂
