Let me honest here:
I own a lot of USDT, and I used it to hedge against the volatility of Bitcoin.
Of course, I know I am not the only one doing so, and this anyone with a decent understanding of crypto must be doing all day long.
However, it is always good to buy back Bitcoin with your ideal sitting USDT, if you think the price point of BTC is at acceptable levels as per your research.
And it looks like you are one of those who are wanting to do so and convert the USDT in BTC, that’s why I am writing this guide to help you do that in the easiest possible way.
I have taken Changelly as an example in this guide because it is the most user-friendly service for swapping one crypto to another crypto:
How & Where To Exchange USDT To Bitcoin (BTC)?
Step #1. Go to Changelly.com and sign-up using your email ID. For this step, you are not required to do any KYC or document submission at this point.
Step #2. Now go and check your inbox for any confirmation mail that you might have got. If there is no email, please ignore this step.
Step #3. As soon as you do this, you will be logged in, and you will see this screen. Here you can enter the amount of USDT you wish to exchange to another currency or Bitcoin. Doing this will auto-populate the value of BTC you will get in exchange for your USDT coins.
***Note: In this example, I am exchanging 1000 USDT for BTC. Make sure to choose USDT20 for ERC20 version of USDT & select only USDT for Omin version of USDT.
Step #4. Now click on ‘Exchange Now’ option shown in the above image, and you will be taken to this screen showing you the details like exchange fees, network fees, estimated time of arrival, etc. Here also you can change the amount of USDT you wish to exchange for BTC.
Step #5. Once you have selected the amount of USDT you wish to exchange into BTC, click on ‘Next step’ shown in the above to see this screen. Here you will be asked to enter your Bitcoin address where you want to receive your BTC.
If you don’t have a BTC address, you can quickly make it by choosing from our recommended list of Bitcoin wallets from here. Note: This is the BTC address on which you will get your bitcoins in exchange for USDT so enter the address cautiously as Bitcoin transactions are irreversible.
Step #6. Click on ‘Next Step’ as shown in the above image, and you will be taken to this screen, which is shown below. On this screen, you will see the gist of the exchange, and you should verify everything here. The rate, the fees, and the estimated time arrival everything you need to check proactively !!
Step #7. Once you have checked all the details, you should click on the ‘Confirm and make payment’ button to see this screen showing you the address on which you need to transfer your USDT coins.
You can use either the QR code or copy-paste the address to send USDT from your wallet or exchange on this shown address.
Note: You have 36 hours to send funds otherwise the transaction will be canceled automatically, but I suggest you send it ASAP before the exchange rate of USDT/BTC pair changes.
Step #8. As soon as you send the USDT coins on the above-shown address, you will see this screen asking you to wait and relax. It merely means your transaction is being processed and Changelly is waiting for the USDT blockchain to confirm your transaction.
As soon as that is confirmed, the swapping process starts, and it happens almost instantly, and your BTC is sent to the address which you have given in step #5.
Step #9. Now just sit back and relax until the conversion is completed and it usually takes 30-60 minutes for bitcoins to arrive and as soon as it arrives you will see this screen congratulating you !!
If you wish to verify your transaction click on ‘See transaction on blockchain’ option and you will be taken to a blockchain explorer where you can see your transaction.
Congratulations, Tada….!!! You have done it
Convert Bitcoin To USDT
So this is how you can convert USDT to Bitcoin.
If you wish to do vice-versa and convert Bitcoin to USDT, it is also very much possible, and you need to follow the same steps as listed above exactly.
Moreover, Changelly supports more than 60 cryptocurrencies as of now, and you can swap one currency for others using Changelly any time.
